Date this Stetson Tweed Newsboy Cap? Rarity?

This is a genuine older newsboy-style cap by Stetson. The wool fabric is brown and off-white tweed (with red and yellow specks) with a brown leather inside "rim". There are 2 snaps on the front visor, and an adjustable strap in the back. This looks like a child's or small adult's size. The hat is lined with tan silk? or rayon in a linear woven pattern. The lining is marked in teal, "Stetson" in a circle, with a crest that has a beaver and a winged bird. The mark looks like a deco design to me.

I haven't been able to find another newsboy cap with this particular Stetson label or style (2 snaps and no button on top).

I'm wondering about the rarity, the approximate date, and approximate value (if you'd like to venture a guess).

Thanks!

Hi, you might be better off posting this in The Fedora Lounge (an online forum devoted to hats) as they have handled lots of stetson labels there and gave me good info on a couple of early men's hats I had.

Thanks Pinkcoke! I'll head over there now.

Hi,

Just from the photos, and not handling it in person, I would say it is post 1950s. the only thing that looks older on this cap to me is the style of the logo imprinted on the lining, but that could have been used for many years. While I do not know all the Stetson marks and when they were used, the look of the wool used to make it, the stitching, and the cap itself does not look older than that to me. It has a "newer" feel to it, but with an older looking logo. These vintage tweed caps are popular now, the older the better, although yours is very small size and that can reduce the price greatly. Older ones from the early 20th century can fetch $100 or even much more. I have seen ones from as late as the 70s fetch a good price, but in the larger sizes.

I am curious to know what they said at the Fedora Lounge.
