Dating 60\'s???

This strawberry themed daydress came into my paws this past week. The only tags are the washing instructions, and they are seriously faded. It is a poly/cotton blend. No zipper, closes with those adorable plastic red buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And how would I describe this??

Yeah, very late 60s to early 70s.
I'd throw Patio Dress in there, since that's the newer term for maxi dress.

Have you ever tried putting a few plastic grocery bags in your sleeves (on your manni, not just for fun). It will perk out the puff of those sleeves a bit better. The grocery bags can be loosely rolled for a curve surface, and are light enough to not weigh the sleeve down, but stiff enough to stay in place.

Thank you! Never thought of the bags, but what a great idea. I'll retake the photos using the bags, they were a tad dark anyway.

I tell you, so often I am scrambling to find new descriptions to fit these vintage items, so as to attract buyers. Some of my very nice maxi's went without notice when I used terms that were lost in antiquated verbal cyberspace. It is a constant learning experience.

What a sweet dress!

I agree with Jenn--it's a cusper, possibly early 70s.

I'd mention the strawberry print, flounced hem and contrast piped, ruffled collar (what does the back of the collar look like, I wonder? I'm half expecting it to be square, like a sailor collar...)

I can't tell if the fabric is actually dotted swiss (ie those dots in the ground are raised or have texture to them), or just a printed effect; either way, it really plays up the country picnic feel to the dress.

I have seen the term "cusper" often on this site. What exactly is the definition? Does it mean a similar garment of an original style or era?

Thank you, and no it is not dotted swiss, just a printed effect. But I will add the flounce, contrast piping, and ruffled collar. The back of the collar is rounded.

Cusper: an item that stylistically straddles two eras that are typically very different in style. This 60s/70s cusper still has the simple fabric print of the 60s, but is starting to show the style of the 70s in the maxi length.

I think ruffle and puff sleeve (if it is such) would do well for this dress
