Hi Everyone,

I need some help dating this amazing piece. My initial thought was 20s, but it came in with other hats that were much older.

One of my favorites and SUCH a beauty.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, it would be helpful to see the whole hat, and determine the shape and style. Judging from what you have shown, I would place the hat in the late 'Teems to early 1920s. But hard to be sure without seeing the entire hat. Usually hats would have a lining, but those sheer or lacey hats could have just a hatband or partial liner as yours looks to have.

The address on the hat is one very familiar to me. Downton LA near FIDM and some great museums, etc.

I was always under the impression that the National cloak and suit company was inly available by mail order, and carried in some department stores, but it was never a store by itself.
