dating a wool plaid jacket

Hi Delana,

The jacket is semi-iconic in style, like the style of a Pendleton 49er. That jacket was first made in 1949, and similarly-styled jackets have been made by Pendleton to the present. I wrote a little about the jacket for my blog some time ago, and I believe other VFG members have also written about it. http://denisebrain.blogspot.com/2008/10/last-word-in-plaid-pendleton-49er.html

Other companies made verrrry similar jackets. I can't tell for sure, but I don't think your jacket has the flanged shoulders, back yoke or shell buttons, but it certainly is in the same vein. I would say it dates from the 50s.

Glad if it helped! I have had quite a few since I wrote that blog...but that's because I live close to the Pendleton homeland.

Maggie, Love seeing all the color combinations on your blog. Thanks for posting. I have a pink and gray 49er I would have a very difficult time parting with.

Pink and grey would have to my favorite combination...and I wouldn't be able to part with it either!
