Dating an Adolfo jacket

Hi all,

Hoping to get an opinion on when this jacket is from. I think it is 70s but I have a number of other Adolfo suits and jackets from the same estate that are a very different style so this one seems out of place. The lapel is covered in some sort of slick fabric. I think the jacket itself is wool. There is black piping all over. It isn't lined but it has small shoulder pads. There are two front buttons but only one is functional.

Is there a name for this pattern or can I call it concentric diamonds?

Thanks.
Victoria

Adolfo's been around since the late 60s, far as I know. But this looks very 90s to me. It's cool that it's a knit jacket with woven lapels. Sort of a diamond herringbone pattern. There's probably a proper name for it. Have you checked the Fabric Resource?

well the colors certainly say 70s. you could contact the company and ask. you rarely get a response, but sometimes you luck out. and it certainly never hurts to ask...

Any chance there's a union label in there somewhere? or a fiber content label? or any other label besides the company name?

Thank you Liza. No other labels unfortunately. I don't believe the company exists anymore. Even though it has s site it only really offers licensing. The label resource says Adolfo retired in 1993 and subsequently there was a license under Adolfo Atelier up until 1996. I have seen some of these but they actually do say Adolfo Atelier and not simply Adolfo. Here are a couple of pics of some of the other Adolfos in this estate. Just about everything was knit boucle.
