Thanks! It's def. not linen, softer, finer, tighter, and more fluid than that. Here is an enlargement, if that helps. I can pull it out again tomorrow and take a close up.

It looks 40s to me, reminds me of the fabric that was used during the war, most often for ladies suits, known as utility wear.
It could be a lightweight wool or a rayon.
