Dating and fabric ID on maxi dress

This eye-popping dress has me thinking 70's? It must have had a matching belt, as there is evidence (cut off ends) a previous owner must have ineptly removed pink string style belt loops. Also, I'm very unsure what to call this fabric. The dress is fully lined in pink synthetic (feels like nylon). The overlay is a very busy printed stiff/rough synthetic with a metallic pattern woven into it.. I'm at a loss. The last picture is of the bottom hem of the lining. Thanks!

Fantastic - I like that print of the overlay! I have a 60s dress in a fabric that's made the same way, a slightly transaparent synthetic that has metallic threads woven in in a separate pattern. You have to be careful not to draw those metallic threads out by accident. I would guess too that your dress is from the 70s.

Poly chiffon? Poly organza? It is almost exactly like a certain "Mother of the Groom" dress I remember from 1971.
