Dating Brooks Brothers label in suit dress, 80's does 40's?

Found this darling suit dress (is that the correct term for this style?) today, and cannot find any examples of this Brooks Brothers label. My first thought was 80's does 40's because of the silhouette, particularly the length of the skirt and the padded shoulders. I've been unable to find this particular label (gold lettering on white) in the label resource, nor has Google been any help to me. The only other tag is a care tag in the usual spot (sewn into the left side seam of the skirt). The most interesting detail to me is the way the sleeves are gathered with buttons at the cuffs. Forgive the terrible pictures of me wearing it, I figured it would be helpful for you all to see it on a body. Happy to provide more/better pics if that helps. I'd love to be able to accurately date it, and also would love to know how to best describe the style. Am I totally off-base seeing a 40's influence? Thanks for any help!

Hi Robin, I would call that a shirt dress or shirtmaker dress but more particularly, I'd call it a "secretary dress" because those styles were popular amongst office workers in the '80s. I'll go with early '80s, perhaps very late '70s for this but it will help if you can show us the shoulder pads. They get larger the further into the '80s they go. You're quite right that the style took some influence from the '40s. I wouldn't put it any earlier than late '70s- more probably early '80s due to the label.

Thanks so much, Nicole! The shoulder pads are not particularly thick, but they are large otherwise. Here are a couple of pics. Thanks again!
