I know it might be blatantly obvious but does anyone recognise which era this gorgeous little top is.

The print and front style suggest 80s/90s to me but I've not come across a sheer back waistcoat before which makes me wonder if it could be a recent creation from a dress of the earlier mentioned decades. The contrast between front and back is quite a modern look to me.

Thank you and sorry for the slow response. I don't think the photographs show its detail properly. It feels a lot older than 80's/90's. It has no openings anywhere and the materials including the buttons seem to have some age to them. Maybe these photos show the detail better. And I found a '42' label on the inside of the back which I completely missed in the winter light! I'm a UK 12 and there's no way it would fit me, more like a UK 8-10.

My first thought was early '80s but I agree that the detail photos show it to be earlier, by the construction techniques used.

Is that a bias roll collar? If so, I vote early '60s.

Ah thank you for the extra photos, yes those covered buttons with O ring metal backs and fabric shanks are definetly earlier (they are the same sort I have on a 40s blouse I posted in yesterday if you want to look) I agree a 30s dickey is a possiblity. I have some satin ones I may be able to find for comparison. They don't look so much like a waistcoat as this one does though, more like blouse ruffles.
I am still curious about the size - an EU 42 is around a UK 14 in my experience. I wear a 38 as a UK 8/12 so this still leads me to wonder if it has been altered in the past. Can you compare the stitching and thread used around the garment to see if there are any anomalies.

Can you please confirm what sort of collar it is? I haven't seen a bias roll collar in the '30s and that's the main reason I dated as early '60s. If there is a different type of collar can you please identify or show photos. I agree that it could be '30s if the collar is different.
