Dating & describing vintage purse

Hi,

What date would you put on this navy & ivory purse? Would this be straw or raffia? Not sure of the difference.

Looks like raffia, and I'd say 60s with that shape, chain handle, and clasp.

A shot of the interior would be helpful!

Hi,

I think the purse is older and would probably be from the late 30s or early 40s. It would most likely have been one of those projects from a pattern book and the handle was most likely made of the same raffia as the purse is made out of and would have fallen apart from use. It would have been a short handle, as in a handbag style. The chain has obviously been added.
