A friend of mine bought this for me from an estate sale, we've joked about when it's from but don't actually know. I've seen listings with similar ones online that have said as early as the 1920s and as late as the 1970s. I'd love any info on it, thank you. Let me know if you need any additional photos or info. There are no labels.

The embroidery with cutwork reminds me very much of a 1950's dress I have seen made in the same way, although the silhouette of your robe is very 1920's - perhaps it was an extension of the 20's revival in fashion in the early 60's?

I would have said 1920s but for the overcast serging on the seams, that doesn't strike me as right for the era - I think Melanie may be right - and I bet it was part of an ensemble, with a matching dress (at least in colour with maybe some of the embroidered flowers)

a lot of that sort of cutwork was (and still is) done in Indonesia. When we lived there (in Jakarta) in the early 90s, it was everywhere...there were a couple of Honolulu companies that imported it for shops in Hawaii, too, around that time.

It was most often used for dresses, rompers, tops and shorts sets (and at that time, jumpsuits), but also for jackets and coats, too.

I agree with Mary it looks like the work I have seen from Indonesia. I had one in the 70s which was more of a jacket. The store that it was purchased from used to bring them over from Indonesia, I was in Montreal, Quebec. ...they used to call them indonesian wedding blouses or jackets. This one is more of a coat length, makes me think this may have been worn with the narrow pants they wore, or perhaps a matching dress.
