Dating French lace robe

Hi all,

I often have a difficult time dating vintage lingerie. I found this beautiful lace robe in a cedar trunk in the basement of a house here in Baltimore. It was in terrible condition but I soaked it well and was able to get all of the stains out. I'd love some idea of a date. My initial inclination was 30s or 40s but the paper tag looked more recent to me. Thanks for any help!

Thank you Susan. That's what is throwing me but I haven't seen any similar robes from that time. Also, the only mention of the brand "Juventa" is a 1920s-30s mannequin with the brand name. So, I guess I'm still not confident either way.

It's a very pretty piece. I can see why you think it might be older, although the cardboard tag does not look to be from the 30s or 40s. It may be late 40s. What a shame the nightgown was no longer with it, that might have helped to determine the age. It isn't very often one sees this type of robe that is basically sleeveless. It makes me think that perhaps the nightgown may have had some sort of interesting sleeve. I have seen this sort of lace used in the 40s and early 50s in lingerie and as accents on dresses.

Thank you Mary Jane. I hadn't thought about that it might have originally had a nightgown too but that makes sense. So much to learn!
