dating handmade dress

hello! would appreciate any help dating this dress. it appears to be handmade, possibly a child's dress. raised textured polka dots throughout, very detailed embroidery? has a metal zipper in back. not sure if fabric is hand embroidered as well. feels like some sort of cotton / linen. thank you!

Hi Aimee, yes, looks like a home made child's dress, I would date to the early '70s.

The fabric is machine embroidered dotted swiss cotton. The skirt is probably cotton. It's very roughly made, no doubt because the sewer knew the girl would probably only wear it a small number of times before growing out of it.

I'd say late 60s, early 70s, based on the colors and style and the fact that I could've easily worn that to elementary school : ).
