Dating & identifying reptile handbag

Made in Argentina, is it snakeskin or lizard? Is there an easy way of telling the difference from the scales?

How would everyone date the bag, 1940s?

Thanks guys, I did try and check the resource before posting, but it kept coming up with an error page.. Seems to be working fine now, probably just my temperamental browser.. Do you think 40s is around the right age?

I'm no expert, but I'm thinking 60s.

Looks 60s to me as well--the shape, the "twist lock" closure, and the interior pocket designs are all typical of purses then.
