This first one (I kinda like this), which at 1st glance I thought was late 70s/early 80s, doesn't appear to be. I'm stumped. It has a metal zipper & an old paper order tag in the seam at the bottom of the zipper--no mfgr label, but has union label. I don't think I've ever seen a metal zip past the mid 70s at latest.... Though halters were popular in the early 70s, I don't recall this skirt style! On this, I'd think "Black & White Polka-Dot Tiered Halter Dress" might catch some views?? Black, white, polka-dots & halters seem to all be "in."

I'm not too keen on this 2nd one, but if the 80s are back, then this could be, too, especially in this color! This is 80s, isn't it (has shoulder padding along the seam of the one sleeve to make it big & puffy). Any ideas for keywords for this? Thanks!

Gotta get 'em listed b-4 it's too late for proms!

The first dress looks early 70s to me. The tiered skirts were popular. I know my mother had at least one. The second dress looks 80s to me and frighteningly enough, the 80s are back. Key words are not my forte but I think your ideas for the first dress are good. For the second dress, you could go the "prom/dance/cruise" key word route but that doesn't seem very original, does it?

LOL! You said it! (I've just gotta dig thru my closets & pull out my long-unworn 80's dresses & suits!)

And I'll go with early 70's on the 1st one--I remember wearing ruffles & peasant-style tiered skirts & dresses, but nothing quite like this!

Thanks!

On the second one put off shoulder.

I will be cleaning out my basement next week and I am pulling out all my 80s work clothes!

I really like the first one Anne, and I know there are tons of polka dot things in the shops over here for spring and summer - are the cherries an original part? I love them!

Harriet, I'm not sure if the cherries are original to the dress, but they were there when I got it, so I left them! The attached sash is too short to actually tie in a bow or square not, so I do assume that something came with the dress, if not the cherries, to keep the sash fastened.

The more I live with this dress, the more I like it! It grows on you....
