Dating matching skirt and jacket

It's made from some kind of velvety velour or something. There are no tags or labels. It has covered buttons and a side metal zipper. The skirt is about calf length. Thank you!

Great color, it is made of velveteen which is a fabulous fabric. My guess is very late 50s to very early 60s, not sure of which decade it lands in. I am sure others will come by and give some ideas. This type of garment would often button up the back. Have you tried it that way too?

Amazing colour: it looks like cotton velvet to me, and I'll date as early '60s.
