sorry if this works out wrong... or too long... but this is only my second attempt at this......also found out i can do ebay this way as well.....so will save loads of pennies on my listings

I can't see the first ones but that may be my laptop..

The last ones are coming through for me - they're gorgeous! With the Louis heel I would guess around mid to late 20s.. but we have a few shoe experts here that will chime in I'm sure.

I know the name Timpsons, I'm sure.

will try and post first 2 pics again.....

hopefully you might be able to see them with these links....

i will get used to it one day.......

great shoes! I'd say 60's on the blue pair...although thats just me guessing. Sure the experts will come along soon enough!

the brown ones are 70s with that stacked heel. If you didn't say that the store closed in 1976 i would say they were later 70s, but i am not a shoe expert. but its safe to say they probably acquired them in the last days.

Oh, I'd totally wear those blue ones, 60s for sure!

The black ones are lovely, but out of my shoe "for sure" years.

Can't see the brown....tease!

THe black shoes with the Louis heel are mid 1920s, c. 1924-25.

The blue T strap pumps are early 70s, probably around 1973 or 74. If they were in a cobbler's shop when he closed in 1976 it could be that the owner never went to pick them up because by 76 the toes are a bit too round to be fashionable anymore. The almond shaped toe is coming in during 76.

I don't see picks of any of the other shoes....

hi.. yes i deleted from photobucket... sorry new to this.. i will put them back on.....

the cobler used to sell new shoes as well.....so the best way to discribe the shop was a small village old fashioned cobler that had been there for 3 generations..what i can make out.... as when they frist opened they used to make shoes...well boots for the local work houses.......i have got a pair of childs work boots with wooden soles and metal on the bottom like horse shoes.....

then they started selling 'fashion shoes' and still done repairs etc........

so thats why i need second opinions on the shoes....over the next few weeks i will post some more photos.... plus i need to stop embarrassing myself and learn how to post photos properly......

so all the shoes are new......when he shut up shop... the stock was left in the basement of the shop......the owners must have died or sold up..... and the auctioneer done a house clearance there........

The brown ones are probably 1976 if that is when his store closed. I would have guessed 76-78, so they are at the early end of that time frame (that is the almond shaped toe I mentioned in my earlier post). The red ones are contemporaneous with the blue shoes -- early 70s.

Well shoot, I was off on the blue pair....still very desirable (at least to me!)

great find on the 20s shoes, they'll do well, especially if not microscopic in size

hi.... yep the 1920's shoes are tiny.... and very narrow....

there is a 2 stamped underneath them by the toes.....

the measurements from toe to heel is....approx 8.5 inches...thats the inner length.......

measureing the length on the outside from heel to toe is approx 8 inches....

what do you think they are worth..?.......

or if i decided to sell them......on ebay...... realistically.. how much should i get for them.......

johnathan..... how and where did you learn about shoes ?

i am hoping to go to the shoe museum in northampton... in the spring.....cant wait.....

Realistically I don't think you would get much more than $40 for them on eBay because of the size. UK size 2 is a US size 4 I think and that's pretty small!

I learned about shoes on the job at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto where I was the curator for 11 years -- one of my mentors was June Swann of the Northampton shoe museum. I have a book coming out in March from Thames and Hudson called 'The Seductive Shoe' which I hope will be popular with shoe fanatics!

March? I will be watching for it!

and as far as small sizes - if its something really spectacular that a collector would want size doesn't matter so much but a lot of these shoes rely on reenactors/vintage wearers to really drive up the price and compete for them.

thanks guys......

your book books sounds as though its really going to be interesting........will keep an eye out for that........

thanks for the price guide..... for the shoes.......

maybe i should keep hold of them untill i can find someone to set up a website for me.... next year.......

if i were to sell them via a website.......or put it another way...... if you were selling these shoes on your website... what price would you put them at ? ......

Well, I'm arriving late here, but wanted to say I love all of them! And I would've thought the blue ones were 60's too, so glad Jonathan came along and showed us the difference because of the heels! And the mules must date to just before the shop closed. I seem to remember these coming toward the tail end of disco and before the overwrought 80s....

What size are the blue and the wine ones? The are both right up my alley!

I find shoe sales on eBay to be so unpredictable! I've had a couple of pairs of 50s & 60s stilettos I thought would garner great prices, based on sales of similar shoes, and had them either not do as well as I thought, or sell at opening bid, and others that I thought would get less than $30 and have had them soar! So, you just never know! (If you list 'em, if it ere me, I'd give them opening bid pricing at what you would be happy to get for them, rather than starting them low and hoping to get a bidding war going!)
