Dating Nightgown/Robe

I'm not quite sure on the dating of this yellow nightgown/robe set. The lace portions are sheer with cut outs on the nightgown. The robe has a small collar and closes with three metal snaps. It also has elastic at the wrists. The nightgown measures 32-33/24-25 and is marked size 12. Thanks for any insight!

What a lovely color for a vintage nightgown. I agree with 1950s. Aside from the early 1950s styling, another clue that it is 1950s is that it is made of nylon. While it may not be 100% impossible for a 1940s nightgown to be made of nylon, I have never seen one. Possible it is very late 1940s, 1948-1949 but I doubt it.

Yes, Barbara's right - nylon wasn't available in garments until '47.

The small collar is typical of early '50s style and the silhouette is a softer hourglass, more '50s than '40s (which had a stronger shape, even with small shoulder pads to peignoirs).

Those sorbet colours were more popular in the '50s too.
