Dating Sears Nightgown

Any thoughts on what decade this is from? I was thinking the 1960's. It has no other labels.

I'm surprised there aren't any more labels, but perhaps they were cut out.

I'll go with late '70s to early '80s, pretty much on the nail of 1980 for this one and the label resource includes a '70s Sears label that whilst not the same, is the same colours and includes the words "the fashion place".

I don't think it's a nightgown. It looks like a dress to me and I would say early 80s.

Good point MJ - I agree. Dress, not nightgown.

It might be a little sheer, but the fabric is too heavy for lingerie. Remember that most of us wore slips then.

It's pretty darn close to the dress Diana wore when leaving hospital with her new baby in 1982.

Could this be considered a maternity dress?

It doesn't have a specific label, as maternity wear usually does, so probably wasn't advertised as such at the time, but I would market it that way today. A lot of sellers would probably show it with and without a belt.

My first thought was echoing MJ's comments....no nightgown here, but a knit dress from the 80s. And great observation from Melanie about Diana's dress....I do remember that so well and this does resemble that style.
