Recently found these Shalimar Gloves, the cuffs are Velvet as are the decorative covered buttons. The glove material has very little strecth to it and is heavier than nylon. Are these driving gloves and what era do they appear to be from? Any ideas on what type of fabric they could be? Thanks again Hope

Are they made of rayon/poly?
I am a rookie and learning to "date" thing myself, but my guess would be 60s if not late (70s).

I would like to hear other thoughts. I have seen some ealier pieces from the 50s, but wonder about the label. Huge glove fan.
Best wishes...

I don't know about the US, but here in Australia all glove manufacturing was offshored by the sixties: usually Hong Kong (British colony, don't you know?).

If there were here, I would guess them as fifties or earlier, but I find gloves hard to date, as they don't vary as much as other clothes.

Could be a Poly/Rayon Blend, they were with a lot of other gloves but these were a totally different look with the cuffs. I though they were more 40's or 50's but gloves have always stumped me also. Thanks Hope

keep me posted...

That is definitely possible. I will keep my eyes open for more information about (Shalimar). I just did a quick search on Ebay and a google search on the brand. Mainly they are 50s.

Best wishes on finding out. I will check back and definitely share information that I find.
