wow thats a beaut!! is it organza? looks ot be late 40's early 50's??? classic and stylish!! love it..

hi... thanks......i bought it in a charity shop the same time as i bought other stuff which spanned from the 40's to the 60's ... so obviously some one had kept all their clothes lol......

do you think this was worn under a plain jacket/ suit.. also do you think the collar part was worn up or down ? as there is a bit of a gap in the front even when the buttons are done up... do you think this has happened over time or maybe a design fault of the person who made it ?

i think it is....whats the diff between organza....sheer ..and fine nylon ?

dont know pecifically, but l would have said that organza is sort a crunchy and stiffer than nylon, wouldnt nylon be more floppy...l have such a way with words first thing in the morning LOL...

I can see this worn with collar up, wide black trousers palazzo style, a la kate hepburn, a camilsole underneath silk of course, pumps or heels..

now that you say yes i can see that too...i just got some organz ribbon from my craft room ( kitchen) and yes it is very similar

it does have like a crepe lining to the bodice part... looking at the stitching this might have been aded later..... but this is where my down fall is in dating hand made things......especially if they are no tell tale signs of wear etc.....

but this all part of the fun in vintage clothes imo....

i have an old twin tail jacket by a local very posh department store that closed in the early 70's.... and i am trying to date that.... but it is soooo hard as they used to hire things like that out for weddings etc.....i am trying to find out about the shop locally and all i can find is some old photos on the internet....looking at the jacket and the label its looks 50's ....but i think thats for another post somewhere along the line...of others...lol......
