Dating this ALGO dress?

Hello! I'm not sure of the era of this dress. Could it be 90s? It's made of polyester, spandex, rayon and acetate. There are no shoulder pads, zippers, side splits etc. Also, can you please explain why you think this dress is a certain era so I can learn a bit about dating dresses?

Hi KellyL, I'll agree with a '90s date for this one, and here's some reasoning for you:
  • the very helpful and detailed fabric and care labels
  • made in Canada, suggests it's pre the modern era when simple dresses like this are mostly made in other countries
  • no openings: it's a kind of stretch velour that we used to call (at least in Australia) panne' velvet. It's not really panne' velvet but that's the name that's used here.
  • The long style and simple bodice was popular in the mid '90s
  • the colour was popular from the early to mid '90s too
