This is not my forte at all, but I love it! Can anyone help me date this dress & what would you call it? Also is this an evening shawl & dating help. Thank you! The shawl is silk.

Thank you! Would you call the dress a day dress or tea dress? It is really pretty. I couldn't resist the silk piece, it just seems so romantic.
 
Your white cotton lace insert dress looks 1909-1910 to me. They were extremely popular at the time and available in a variety of qualities and price points depending upon the quality of the lace, cotton/linen, and construction used. I have seen them in original photographs being worn by women for every day dressy summer wear (going to a fair, shopping downtown, church, even playing lawn tennis), but I have also seen photos of them being worn as wedding dresses, and even own one with that provenance.
