Into the void

I found this at the Salvation Army and its so beautiful and well made with silk lining on the neck and round mother of pearl snaps. The seams are only serged on the bottom for decorative purposes it seems. Couldn't find any info on the label so if anyone else can that would be cool Unfortunately after I got it dry cleaned I saw sweat stains under the arms in the natural light darn darn emoti so I'm currently soaking it in oxy clean as a last ditch effort to restore it. I hope I'm doing the right thing because it's gorgeous and I got it on half off day so it was 2 bucks!!!! Anyways here are some pics. Any more advice on how to fix this would also be appreciated! There's also a stamp above the label on the silk that has faded

I believe that's early 50s. I might be careful about treating those stains... can't tell what the fabric is from here but IF there's silk as you say, Oxy could be a little aggressive. I like to use vinegar/water mix on silk. It's gentler but a great way to work... daub daub, take a break, then go back to it and daub daub a little more. : )

Oh my! I didn't know it was so old. I mean the feel of the shirt and construction have the "they don't make things the way they used to" quality but I figured they kept the old tag and it was more like 1970s because of the decorate serged seams: It's a really gorgeous shirt! Now I feel like maybe I should have been more carefulwashingmachineemoti . I took it out and it seems fine I am going to air dry it and then steam the wrinkles out. Fingers crossed I didn't do too much damage.

Serged seams were around then too. ; )

The label is what tips me off to the shirt being early 50s as well as the collar and saw tooth pocket flaps. It is a great design!
Ok gotcha they didn't start using them regularly until mid 60s?

Well I must have gotten lucky!!!! All sweat stains GONE!!!!im one lucky girl this shirt is a beauty it's real deep robins egg blue/ teal gabardine it's amazing. But next time I'll be sure to be supppppper careful with my oxy clean addiction. Thank you for all the wonderful insight!
