Dating two dresses - Probably late 60s, early 70s

First post, yay. I've been meaning to find a vintage forum, and I finally found one. I am excited. I have a paltry vintage clothing collection (maybe 10 pieces, ranging in quality) but I plan on acquiring more!

I am looking to nail down the dates on these pieces.. As close as possible anyhow. I assume them both to be late 60's to early 70's. I have tried to researching but I haven't found much.

First, a Neiman's knitted dress.

Tag Info:
Top tag says Neiman-Marcus, as you can see.
Second tag says "International Boutique 100% Acrylic Made in Hong Kong" Size 5, and it has care instructions, if they make a difference, let me know, I'll type them up.

The dress is completely knit, except there is a small metal snap at bust level, which may have been added on by the purchaser, but the thread is a pretty good match.

Okay, second dress..

Kind of an artsy picture versus a really descriptive one, so if we need more pictures, I can take them.

Label: Miss Elliette California
It actually seems to be never worn, because it has a thick paper tag attached to the label that has a variety of numbers on it style 9539 and size 8.

Construction details: It has a metal zipper. It is full lined. There is narrow serging around the waist seam, however, the seams of the skirt lining are unfinished. Which I find rather odd as the lining is very ravely and in fact the edges of the seams are already frayed in places, even thou the dress is in near pristine condition. I can't find a fiber content label anywhere.

Thanks in advance and please let me know if I should post more photos! :)

I just found this dress online that is a Miss Elliette and it has similar styling to my red dress, with the swiss polka dots, the sheer overlayer and the white trim. Perhaps the same line as my dress? The seller is saying it's 60s.

Here is another dress online that has to be the same line, but this seller says it's a 70's dress. Hmmm.

Oh, I sold a beautiful blue pleated chiffon Miss Elliette dress earlier in the year. 60's. They made lovely dresses and yours is no exception.

Thanks to you both for your input. I have been googling the labels, and found quite a few examples of the Miss Elliette and I love them too.. lots of flowy pleats and yummy stuff. I can't find a single thing about a specific "International Boutique" for Neiman's thou!

Heres the Miss Elliette I sold.. the chiffon pleats were so light and airy.. I loaned it for a celeb party just before I sold it.. so here it is on a young lady too..

OMG, I have both of those garments (almost!) in my personal collection! (No pics, unfortunately, since I bought these just for me!)

The knit dress, I have just the top portion--same color, but only the International Boutique label. I had no idea there was a skirt part to it, and would never have guessed it to be from NM. It's one of my fave sweaters! (I agree on 70s for a date on it).

I have a ruffle placket swiss dotted gown in turquoise and white very similar to yours. The major difference (besides the color) is that the ruffles go all the way to the hem, and then continue around it. Still, I'd say it's the same time period as yours, and between the color and styling, I've always thought it was late 60s. So maybe both of ours are cuspers?

Carrie, you should take pics anyhow.. What a small world that you would have such similar garments. All my vintage pieces are currently for my greedy little self, but I may sell in the future when I am able to acquire on a regular basis.

Hi all! I sold one very close to this style last spring.... it was just adorable. I love the swiss dots! Cute dresses...
