Dating vintage dressing gown

First of all please excuse the photographs, I have just got this in from France and forgot to bring in my steamer.
Could someone help dating this dressing gown for me. I keep jumping from decade to decade.

It's a bit hard to see, but is that a wide collar with a pleated ruffle? Does it have shoulder pads? Any labels? It will help if more information is provided or if you can photograph it on a model or mannequin so we can see the shape but on the available information I'll go with late '40s, perhaps going into early '50s.
 
I was stuck between 1940's and 1950's. I will steam it and then put it on the mannequin. There are no labels or shoulder pads. The ruffles are around the collar and cuffs and the pockets are not straight across but drop at an angle.
