Dating vintage hats based on hat construction/frame

Vintage Chic

Hi all! I am trying to date a hat and was wondering if there is a specific era that this style frame falls into. I have seen many vintage hats with this same construction and was wondering if this construction is a clear indicator of a specific era. The style in question are the hats that are usually veiled, and the frame of the hat forms an X near the ears to keep it secured to the head. I have posted a picture of the X (picture 1), as well as the interior frame (picture 2) and some additional photos of the hat. If anyone knows please let me know. Again, just wondering if when I see a hat with this type of frame, can I pinpoint it to a specific era? Thanks!

I agree with Alleycats dating of 1960s. That type of frame was used in the mid to late 1950s as well as the early 1960s. When you see that style frame, you can best determine if it is 1950s or if it is 1960s by the materials placed onto the frame, what the materials are made of, and how they were applied to the frame (sewn, glued). After handling a few or more from each decade you should be able to tell the 1950s hats from the early 1960s hats.

The frame appears to be made of buckram and wire.
