I'm getting ready to list these, but need a bit of date help, pretty please.

Thanks in advance for your help.

1st is a NOS Butter Yellow Nylon by Movie Star.
70's? Or New-ish?

2nd is a fab red taffeta one that I think could easily be worn as a dress.

Could it possibly be 50's or when did the adjustable hems go into production?

I'm trying to remember if my Mom had taffeta slips after the 50's.

Thanks so much, Mary Jane.

I think late 60's on the yellow, though, don't you? I searched Caprolan on etsy & ebay, but now will google it. I *think* The Allied Chemical Co. had a plant in Dunbar, WV in the 70's, but don't know what they manufactured there.

I need to tweek the red one's color a teensy bit. It IS a bright red, but just a bit more toward blue.
It says size 34, but it's a bit on the large side.

I took pics outside for the 1st time ever today. I can't decide if I like the garden background or if I should just stick to a solid color. I do feel spring-ish & the fresh air was grand. :)

Nice slips, Leisa! I really like both these brands, and these are wonderful colors. Celanese is great!
Yes, my Snip-It is a bit later vintage, I think (maybe); the content is 50% Nylon /50% Dacron Polyester. Plus, two levels have been snipped, and it is the beige lettering on white label.

Here is a Movie Star label, from a slip I had, which I'd dated 60's:

Your first slip looks 1960s in style but the extensive labelling makes me think 1970s.

The second one (which I wish were my size) looks more late '40s-early '50s so I agree with Mary Jane. Does it have a side zip or is it straight over the head? If the first, it will be on the '40s side of the dating, if the latter, I veer towards '50s.

Thanks so much, everyone!

The yellow nylon I will list as 70's. It has a really poorly made label. The ink has smudged a teensy bit onto the slip & I'm hoping I can get that out. Otherwise, I'll list it for less.

The red taffeta one is awesome! I'll go with 50's on it, but am still a bit perplexed with the blue lettering. I haven't found any others like it yet. Oh! And after checking again & again & again on the color - the pics are actually pretty darn close. YaY!

Both of them 'seem' larger than the tags say, but I'm not doing the details til tomorrow.

Now - is the garden background too busy, ya think?

No, the garden isn't too busy. I have found, though, that too bright light can mess with colors and wash out details. So you'll have to wait for those just-right days to get the light right.

For instance, I'm having trouble making out the detail on the yellow slip. The red one looks GREAT, though. Of course, I'm sure you would add detail shots for a listing...

And make sure your manni is standing up straight... in the yellow slip, she seems to be listing a bit! One of my favorite shops on Etsy has all her photos done outside on a deck, and everything always looks so gorgeous! That's my two cents...

Now... what size is that red slip again? :)

Anne, the Snip-It is throwing me a bit too. It is quite similar to mine, so maybe mine is actually fifties, and this one is earlier 50's? But, I think I'd researched my one, when I came up with 60's, prior to listing. I'm going to continue the research.

Leisa, emphasize the Celanese angle, I'm sure you will. Today, I'm wearing my Celanese slip from Louise, of CatwalkCreative, which is just a wonderful thing to wear.

What is confusing me about the red one is that the label looks older than does the style (at least to me). Unless I'm not seeing some seaming details, that simple scoop-neck style looks later than 50s to me. I dunno--I have probably 50 slips in stock, and none of my older ones looks like that. Unless I go back to the really simple silk ones I have from the 30s, but they are longer and slimmer, and this one wouldn't be that old, in any event
