Hi all;-

I thought 80s at first glance bc so bright and sequiny, But the zipper is metal and some of the seams/shape of it look earlier to me. of course a home sewn dress could use an older zipper than its decade and this does appear to be hand sewn

also, what kind of sequin would you guys call these?

1980s. The colors! The length! The sequins! The neckline! Also the clear sequins used all over patterned fabrics, giving the surface almost a scaly feel is very 1980s.

Those look like a clear flat sequins/paillettes to me. There are flat sequins and cupped sequins. The cupped ones have the facets. Paillettes generally seem to refer to larger, coin size sequins, but I have also heard that term used for flat ones in general, too.

Technically speaking, I don't think I would call those sequins. Sequins are sewn on in some fashion or other, and those are bonded to the fabric. I have seen that kind of fabric referred to as "dot confetti". I think of it as a fairly modern invention although I might be wrong about that - maybe 15 years?
