Deco handbag and what type of leather?

I have been stuck as to whether this is a deco handbag or from the 40's. Could anyone shed some light on its age and the leather. It's tough but no way near tough as something like elephant, thank god.

It would help to see a closeup to clarify but I think it could be pigskin. It has a characteristic 'pricked' appearance. I think it is 40's too, I have a bag with many similarities.

I had sold it as a 40's to a lady, she has used it for a party so I am selling it on again. Pig sounds right but here's a close up.
