Delicate white knit gloves - early 1900s?

These are also from today's haul at the Caritas shop. Very delicate long white knit gloves with a pretty lacy pattern. There are two small holes at the base of two fingers, but I figured that that is something that's repairable. On the underside there seems to have been two small elastic bands sewn in that one would have to take out as they have lost their stretch. They are a little over 18 inches long.

Where do these go date-wise? I would see these being worn with a white lacy summer dress somewhere 1900-1910? Or could they be more modern?

If you can determine if they are silk knit that might help to date them. They could be Titanic Era, 1910-1915, but it is hard to tell without handling them in person. The fingers look a bit "fat" and the ends not quite as tapered as gloves from that time period, but they could just be stretched out.

Ok - interesting point about the shape. I'll see if theres a little fiber that I can do a burn test with... I coudn't tell you if it's silk or not. I'll try next week - I'm off to Vienna tomorrow. Hoping for some more vintage finds - one of the secondhand shops we always go to is closing and has a big sale...

Hi,

The fingers do not match any antique gloves I have or have seen, but the "sleeve" does look Edwardian to WWI era. Is it possible that the fingers were shortened or repaired, which was not uncommon? Can you show the way the fingertip ends are constructed? Are the fingers 1 piece of fabric with 1 seam, or sewn in 2 sections?
