Never saw this kind of detail on a 40's jacket before. Anyone know if the insignia represents anything in particular? Jacket looks like it would be part of a uniform, but the beading makes it too dressy.

Thanks
Theresa

There are patriotic style civilian clothes popular during the war and just afterwards. I found one article in a fashion mag from 1941 that talks about clothes emblazoned with eagles, stars, and in red, white and blue colours. You could also buy patches like eagles and stars, and apply them to coats, sweaters etc. I suspect this is just part of that patriotic theme. Its too bad it doesn't have the skirt because I would be keen on getting it. That label is a bit weird though... 'Wieder of California -- Miami, FLorida'???? What is it - California or Florida???

the label could simply be that it was manufactured by Weider of California, and marketed in a Miami boutique...for example, alot of Reyn Spooner Hawaii shirts are featured in fine casual-dress shops in California...i don't have a tag of one right now, but have seen them when i used to handle alot more of that sort of stock
