so here is what I was thinking on these, but a little confirmation or telling me where I am wrong would be appreciated.

#1 Grey suit, 1940s maybe mid to early? its by Fred a Block. older label, basing it on the cuts and the lapel and little fake triangle pockets

#2 I originally thought 1940s oln this one too, but it is a neiman marcus, label not in resource, I know its at least 1940s, but after looking again while posting this, looking at the shoulders I am thinking a 30s 40s cusper?

#3 black wool stretch suit by Kimberly. is this just early 60s or a 50s 60s cusper? I cant decide. No zipper elastic waist band but the cut on the waist has thinking cusper but the construction makes me just think 60s.

#4 mid 60s wool suit its a Forstmann/Frost bros. I originally thought early 50s without being on mannequin. But then I started looking at the collar shape and the velvet around the collar and I changed my mind to 60s. then the labels and all, it has a union label but sewn over itself so I cant tell which one it is but its one of the circular ones so it has to at least be 1955 or later but no later than early 70s.

Thank you all!!!

Hi Jennifer,

I agree on your thinking of the first two suits, early to mid 40s and 30s-40s cusp. I believe the third suit is Kimberly wool knit, right? I think the collar should lay flat, not up, and (you probably know) it would have had a belt at one time. 50s is my estimate. The last suit is not so clear to me, but I would estimate late 50s to early 60s.

Really nice...all four!

yep had a belt :-( i saw the loop holes lol. but the collar was hard to get down to stay, wanted to curl... yes wool knit, so i just let it do its thing for photos lol.....

Beautiful suits! I love them all but especially number one. Agree with Maggie's dating.

If you're planning to sell them be sure to put Forstmann in the title and also show a picture of that label.

You probably know this, but Forstmann was the manufacturer of the fabric - there are many collectors of Forstmann suits and jackets.

thank you all.. glad to see i am much better at this... still cant do skirts by themselves lol but i use things like collars, shoulders and waists for dating hahaha the easier stuff :-)

any who thank you all... and MAD MEN totally didnt even think about that as a key word, and I know I like forstmann but had no idea there arebuyers looking for it :-) they all have labels so thats a big plus too!

Ok so yall got me to thinking,...

i decided on this title for the striped suit, is it to far fetched or good enough? thank you, also do you think these would do better as buy it nows or auctions? I was thinking trying BIN for the 30 days then rolling them over to auctions (I sell on ebay)

Yes, Forstmann is very desired! I had a jacket and suit last Winter and both sold almost immediately for good prices! Just be sure to put Forstmann in the title and show a picture of the Forstmann label in your listing.

On the green plaid - is the jacket clipped in the back? I'm thinking it may be more boxy in cut?

nope its not clipped.. I dont clip or pin anything I picture.. i state that in my listings too.... so they can see how it hangs naturally on a small/med frame body.

Theses are still from Diane Day she didnt own anything cheap other than like white stag lol (before it went walmart ahahah). I am sure it was custom tailored at the shop. and it isnt as tight in the waist as her other suits are thats for sure.. she had alot of "wasp" waists on her stuff

Fred liked that striped wool:

I sold this 1940s Fred Block suit a year or so ago.

Just wanted to respond to your question about the title on the striped suit: Gangster is a word that *always* makes me look. It's just one of those things!

Now you know a secret about my ebay habits, use it wisely ;)
