Diamante centrepiece and pearl necklace marriage, how old?

This short necklace I'm pretty sure had an entirely different make-up originally and when it broke or for another purpose the owner has knotted these pearl beads onto it. The clasp goes under the left hand side (in this picture) of the centrepiece, it is a folded metal spring type. Something about the centrepiece makes me think it could be older than the probably 1950's rework. I forgot to take a picture of the back, but its super smooth and shiny, no maker's marks. Possibly platinum? (shinier than anything I've seen before anyway...) Would this be correct with stones set without claws?
In any case I thought the centrepiece would have had a diamanté drop of some sort originally, and maybe a chain or small pearl necklace going around. Would love to know your thoughts on age and original design.

Pinkcoke, I think we need to see the underside.

I've seen similar '30s-'50s diamante styles but I can't date it more than that - and it might be more modern. Also, I'm not an expert on fine jewellery but I can't see them putting diamantes into a fine metal like platinum...

Are the diamantes glued in? What sort of clasp is there to the pearls - I know you've mentioned that the pearls are '50s but this sort of combined jewellery has been popular in the last decade.

I would like to see the reverse side as well but it looks to me - and of course you cannot tell just by looking - that the center portion is rhinestones (what you call diamantes) in a rhodium plated setting. Are the pearls cultured pearls or "faux" - simulated pearls? It could have broken and it could be a marriage but I have pieces with these components. Seeing the back of the middle part will help with the dating - my first "guess" is the same as Nicole's either 1930's or 1950's. Are any of the stones in the center part "bead" set? (Not just glued in but a little bit of the metal is holding the stone in place?)
