Diane VF dress & a swimsuit!

Hello friends! A couple of questions re: authenticating & dating.

I found this pretty spring time dress at the thrift & lo and behold, it has a DVF tag inside- but I'm having some trouble authenticating it, and actually am not sure how I would go about it at all. I checked the label resource & that dates it to the 80s (probably the shoulder pads & collar do, too) but that doesn't help with knowing if it's the real deal. I googled and found a great ebay resource for authenticating modern pieces but no help with older styles. If I could even find the archived prints of days past that would be helpful but I'm not sure where I could find that/ if it exists... I am also not knowledgeable about DVF styles & cuts, I just know her wrap dresses are famous, ha. I've included photos of the label & care tag, also.

AND THEN... I'm looking for some help dating this super cute but sadly to big for me swimsuit. It has a red, white & blue union tag inside- I think 1970s? What do you guys think?

That's real DVF, and 80s, as you surmised. I can tell by the fabric. No reason to believe it would not be hers.

Hi TrickVintage! I'm sorry I didn't see your question until now! I'm not at home with it but I can get you measurements real soon if you'd like. I'm an XL or XXL and it's a little bit big on me, especially in the bust. I wish it fit though, it's a dream!
