Did women from the 1850's-60s wear wool plaid coats/paletot?

I am new to this site and was hoping someone could answer my question. I have all the Godey's books on CD, I have 1858-65 yearly Peterson's books and a few Frank Leslie's. I have looked but not really searched thru them yet. My friend who has been reenacting for 14 years says that only capes and cloaks were wool plaid. I know that inside jackets can be a non busy wool plaid. She told me velvet was not used in trim during the summer but an hour later I was reading Peterson's and it had as a novelty for July a white day cap with pink velvet trim. So she might not know for sure.
Any help would be great!

Sure they did)

Few searches in Google will show you a lot of examples of women's wool coats. Even my granny and her sister had these style of coats

Thank you so so much, I get conflicting answers. The Civil War living history can be a little crazy sometimes.
