I recently received this small bag from a woman who moved from Romania in 1971. It predates 1971 if what she told me is correct, but I know no more about its age. The mesh is muted gold and black, sort of an antiqued gold effect, with little pairs of bars instead of circles in the mesh. It's the typical deco style frame.

Do you know this one's era? And is there a name for this style of mesh?

TIA!

Maggie it looks good for 60s to me but I will ask my Mum - she left Romania around 1976 and co-incidentally we were discussing fashions from her time with the rowing team last night. She said in the 70s in Romania you could go to any store and buy the same hat, the same coat the same shoes. Anything 'different' had to be imported. She and a friend on the team began to make high fashion clothes on a sewing machine - white denim hotpants and super wide flares - and she said they would be asked - where did you get this from? did you get it from America? Of course, very few could afford to do that, so your lady either had means or some generous friends/family to get such an item.

Thank you Melanie! I can tell you that the family was reportedly very affluent and had an eclectic mix of items from Romania, Paris fashions, the US...

You are welcome Maggie. She said the shape was in fashion when she did her A-levels around 1969/1970 but the shape of the metal work looked a bit newer to her.
I can't find the name right now, but the pattern reminds me a lot of that safety grip moulding on industrial steel foot plating, for what it's worth.
