Dior Boutique labels

I've received a query about a Dior Boutique label (late 60s-early 70s) which has a number on the bolduc (white label under the Dior label).

I've seen Boutique labels with and without numbers, but not with a bolduc. Any thoughts about why, etc. Claire

The bolduc is a little white tape hidden under the label. It has a number on it which can be used at some houses to date the garment. C

OH okay, I know what you mean - I thought maybe you meant the tag that lists all the fibre contents. I didn't know that white tag was called a Bolduc!

All I can say about your label issue is that Dior and Pierre Cardin are probalby the two most inconsistent labels I have ever come across. I have Dior couture with and without reg. numbers, with and without dates, different types of lettering for same lines at about the same period, such as 'Christian Dior for Holt Renfrew' and 'Holt Renfrew - Christian Dior'... just lots of variety with no seeming reason.
