Dior Shoes - \"Soulier Christian Dior\"

I was out at an antique shoe/flea market today, and besides picking up some good finds, I came across a pair of shoes marked, "Soulier Christian Dior." They were formal, evening shoes, and I'd guess they were from the '50s.

It never occured to me that Dior makes/made shoes, but I guess it makes sense. I did quick searches on Google and eBay, and I didn't find anything as old as the shoes I saw.

It had <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-vintage-shoes-blue-satin-CHRISTIAN-DIOR-1960_W0QQitemZ8342419581QQcategoryZ74980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target=blank>the same mark as these on eBay</a>, but the shoes are nothing alike.

Any information on Dior shoes? The main reason I didn't buy them was because they were so small - size 6 1/2. I did take the dealer's card in case I change my mind. I'm just curious about desirability, history, etc. If you know of a website that has information about Dior shoes, I'd love to see it. :)

Thanks!
Laura

Hi
I would say 60's. I have two pairs of this style one is purple satin, the other pair are pilgrim style with a diamente encrusted heel and a huge bucke CD in more rhinestones. They are lovely shoes and the pride of my collection.

According to Thames & Hudson, the Dior shoe salon opened in 1953, with Roger Vivier as the designer. He did the shoes at Dior from 53-63, but most of the ones I've seen also had his name on one of the shoes. And there is a wonderful pair in the kyoto Fashion book that also says "Delman" the American company for which Vivier worked.

Vintage Vivier shoes always do well.
