Dior Swing/Opera Coat 60s no?

Sandra the link did not work. Is it this one you're referring to:
390014733848 than I think it is 50s with those half sleeves and wide collar. Also referred to as a clutch coat (I think).

I looked at the coat because Kerry Taylor had a Balenciaga in the sale this week dated early 60s. I have a Balenciaga almost identical to the one auctioned.

Just a note for non-trade members, the Dior coat is advertised as couture. Dior--New York was ready to wear. It was very good rtw, but not couture. Claire

Claire...I checked the listing again....'museum quality, rare, masterpiece...etc. etc.' but she never actually claims it's couture, pictures the label sideways, and reads the label DIOR ORIGINAL but omits the NEW YORK. Nor does she claim it's French....

I think she's a 'clever' seller :scratchchin:

Lovely coat - pity about the layout, makes me want to go elsewhere....one thing though, I'm sure it's worth a lot so why doesn't the seller clean it? I find that those "easy" marks rarely come out, and the value of an item in this colour will be great affected if it doesn't. Surely the cost of cleaning it will be more than made up for by extra bids.

Oh my god what a lovely coat! :o

I have seen Dior coats like that from 1951 to 1958...But I am not an expert either!

Crappy picture, sorry, but this one is from Dior, 1952.
