Those are great. Thanks for posting it.
Have any of you read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? It's a compellingly odd fantasy novel with the plot built around authentic period photos of invisible boys, levitating girls, etc.
These photos reminded me of that.
I forgot about masks - that was THE key to all creepy Halloween costumes. I recall it was sometime during the late 1960s they were suddenly considered too dangerous to wear for trick-or-treating...
Definitely scary and not comparable to what you see walking around today... We celebrated our office Halloween again as last year - the girls from the North America team decorated everything (since some of them are half-american, this isn't just because it's gotten fashionable here in Europe too), someone made cupcakes with spooky decorations, I had genuine trick or treat sweets that my parents bought on their recent US trip - and most of us also dressed up for the whole day in the office. Great fun when you have to go to another department, or go down for lunch in our communal lunch area. Since the whole building is built with glass walls, you can see through everywhere, which makes it even more fun... Just walking by a meeting in some room and seeing how people react is great fun. Since vampires, pirates and witches are everywhere anyway, I dressed up as Wilma Flinstone, complete with a big inflatable club. Ok, not very scary, but when I saw that costume, I had to have it . And yes, we managed to do some work too...!
The girl with the yellow I think would have been from the 50s, I'm getting a very deja vu feel from her. I swear I wore her as a little girl for Halloween...I wonder if she was meant to be for a snow white costume?
