Thanks Deborah. I am listing the sweater so I thought I'd include a pic of the dress and the sweater. Oh.. the sleeves on the dress are elbow length with a cuff. I just don't want to list and put "rockabilly" as a keyword and have someone think I have no idea what I am talking about!
Thanks! As for this, its a little on the too understated side to appeal to the rockabilly crowd these days. Kim and I are doing a follow up to go into how they dress these days (as to their taste in vintage).....but to me, this is a little too saddle shoes and school books to be rockabilly (not in a bad way, just not in a bad-enough-girl-way!).
That is what I was wondering Ang - whether it was too saddle shoe for them. I know that they do plaid but wasn't sure if this was the kind of plaid that they did.
If you loose the sweater, which I really like, by the way, and open a couple of buttons at the, em, decollete, I would think it falls into the "good girl with an edge" category, no?
I am 26 and I have been in the rockabilly scene for almost 10 years now. I would totally call this rockabilly. Not all girls into rockabilly wear capri's with tight sweaters and wiggle dresses. We pretty much wear a broad range of anything from the late 30's through the early 60's. I have quite a few similar dresses to this actually. Just thought I would mention my side of it all.
Thanks for all that information. I wasn't sure if all Rockabilly girls wore only the "bad girl" type of clothing and some of the VLV sights I was looking at had dresses very similar to the one I have pictured. I sold another repro dress with a similar look to this and called it rockabilly but it was strapless so I just wasn't sure about this one.
