Does anybody really read auction listings?

The majority of my listings include the shipping cost for the US and Canada, yet, I get questions all the time about how much it will cost to ship something. Twenty-four requests in the last week, excluding international buyers. Does anyone else experience this? Am I missing something here?

I get the same thing. Perhaps it may cut down the questions to place the word Shipping in bold and or capital letters. I found your shipping costs fairly easily. I think folks get excited about something and just hit the "ask seller question".... Your shipping costs are much higher up in the auction then mine. I always figured that people ask me because you really have to scroll down quite a ways to get to my shipping costs.
I really don't have an answer for you, just one of those things we have to deal with!!

I think people do sometimes skip through things (I like to think they are so excited that they found something they want is the reason they read so quickly and missed it!LOL). Maybe if you state the costs in the ebay section at the top they would be more blatantly obvious - but then I realise you would have to change them each time so it can be a pain..

I think sometimes when a seller offers just one flat rate to a particular destination, people sometimes don't think it applies to them...that there must be a less expensive rate because they are a few inches closer on the map to you than someone else.

I might consider adding the shipping calculator on ebay because folks are used to finding it down there.

It's not just selling on Ebay which this sort of thing happens, I have over the years come to the conclusion that their is a certain number of people do this because they just wants reassurance of that their is some one running the listing or web site and the question is sort of irrelavent they have to find something to ask about and with Ebay it's about postage. I think it's sort of indicative of remote selling.<p>
As a after thought, and reading Lynn post below...reminded me that I have often been complemented for responding quickly to a email..
which I know ever one here will also do as a matter of course.. but I bet you where are a lot of businesses who trade on the net that do not respond either slow or not at all!,

Very often it can be a combination of things, and everyone has some good ideas.
I think Paul has a good point too.... sometimes they just want to touch base to see what kind of reply they get.

Wow, that's lots of inquires, sounds promising! :)
