Hi everone,

I ve always found vintage dresses beautiful, and I ve found some really pretty dresses online, which are labeled "Natlynn Originals" etc.
I m new to vintage fashion and couldnt find anything about this brand.
Any info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Vic

Hi Vic. I looked up this label in 'Newspaper Archives' and all the ads are from the 1950s. Many of their ads say the dresses are "inspired" by either current movie stars or movies of that time. For example, from one ad with drawings of the garments -

Bravo to Natlynn Jrs, for these inspired adaptations of the clothes worn in the new hit musical, Irving Berlin's "There's No Business like Show Business."

I don't know if other manufacturers used this marketing technique in the 50's. Perhaps someone else can come along and add to this. The dresses do appear to be lovely and quite expensive for the time. For example, their $22 dress in 1955 would be @ $190 today.

I am running out shortly, but I found Natlynn Junior Originals dresses were manufactured by Gaynor Junior Dresses of NY. The officers of Gaynor were Nat, Max, and Mildred Grossman. The earliest reference to them I found thus far was in 1951 and the latest was in 1960, although it is quite possible they operated earlier or later than the 1950's.

In 1954 Edith Head authorized them to duplicate the exact clothes worn by Janet Leigh in "Living it Up" and in 1955 they contracted with Janet Leigh to design for them.

I will look for more information when I return.

Thank you very much for your answer! Im sorry for being away for so long. I was traveling abroad, and just got home a few days ago. Thank you once more!

From a 1954 ad for Natlynn dresses: "Juniors! Wherever you go, whatever you do, be sure to have handy for pure bedazzlement one of these new era dresses over crinoline." (Emphasis is mine)

Hi, thank you very much! I was out traveling, just got home, hence the late reply.
