This coat has a furrier's label and is
really well made. I'm thinking 70s - has a funky flower
lining. The condition on this is excellent, I'm wondering just how often the original owner wore it (monogram is in the lining, but
I can't remember the initials at the moment - not that it
is important).

Anyway, I know the collar is fox, and the "patchwork"
body is not rabbit or lamb - beyond that I'm stumped.

Here is a close up of the fur (two abutting "patches") (sorry pic is so big - I tried to do the "click to enlarge" thing
but, but it didn't work :( )

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

GREAT coat!!! I'm no expert by any stretch, but I want to say beaver (not northern because it looks lighter in colour) because of the silvery guard hairs. Is is really soft?

Deb, thanks! :)

Yes, a couple of other VFG'rs told me it was muskrat. You're right, it
is not as soft as beaver, but this is still quite soft.

Thanks for that link - I hope my coat does as well (even half as well would be nice!)
