Does anyone know what this necklace is made of?

My stepmother believes this necklace belonged to her mother which would date back to the 1930's but she is not 100% sure. I have been researching everywhere but i can not find anything that resembles this pendant? It looks like faux ivory/bone but the front of the pendant has a design on it that is very shiny. If anyone can help me identify it, it would be greatly appreciated... Thank you in advance.

So pretty -- it looks like a dyed mother of pearl mosaic over a composite (although it could be bone). I remember very similar ones with the same construction and twist beaded ropes in the 80's and 90's mostly, but see what others say. If you can show a close-up of the catch, that will help as well.

Laura knows her jewelry! It looks 80s to me as well, gut feeling.
As she mentioned, a catch close-up would really help.

The flower part of the necklace has two holes, one of which isn't used. So it was originally designed for two strings, not the one it has now.

I wonder if it used to be part of something else, and someone strung it like this at a later date.
