Does anyone recognize this alligator bag?

I am hoping someone knows who might have used this gold stamped alligator and the fish details on the chain. I know pipe dreams right? LOL

I got some other stuff at the same time that were 60's, so that is what I am guestimating this bag to be as well.

It is lined in both suede and satin and the outside is in perfect condition!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sille:

You have actually given me a wealth of information!

Your bag is croc, which is why your gold stamp is a bit different than mine as mine is alligator.

The closures and chain clasps are identical.

So I am going to guess that mine would be a Pierre Cardin, but fo course I can not prove it. Ugh.

Thanks for the help!

Mrsgrossmyer: there is no writing on the inside flap at all. the only thing in there is the gator. He is on the lower left hand side of the flap.

There is a semi-circle stain above him that may have once been a tag of some kind, but that is now gone.

That's great! And I learn something new too – thanks! :-)

With the Pierre Cardin label thing: I think it might be the other way around:
Our bags look very similar and I thinks it is very possible that they came from the same manufacturer.

And I can remember reading about Pierre Cardin that he, besides his high-fashion lines, was/(is!) very good at the commercial side of his design-business, bringing out large collection of everything from bags to shoes, scarves etc. in a good-for-money-quality and smart designs that not only rich women could afford.

He is very interested in art and culture, and very wealthy too, now spending of his fortune restauring a whole village in Provence(!):
