Dress - Age?

Hello everyone! I came across this piece at another thrift store, 50 cents! I'm curious about the age. I would guess 60's, because of the bold pattern and boxy shape, but I've definitely been wrong before. Let me know what you think!

Thank you!

I just realized I should be posting these in the Vintage Fashion Q & A, my fault. Is there anyway I can move them?

I'm glad to hear it! It was on its way to the trash, because it had a large yellow stain but it just needed a good washing. I usually hand wash all of my vintage because I get quite nervous about it. Thankfully, the stain came out no problem!

Congrats! I love saving vintage from the tip like that, a lot of the charity shops here will recycle anything that has even a few stitches undone!
Just a note that the Size 13 is also an indication of it's age, you don't get odd sizes in the 70's as it becomes standardised.

What a great tip, thank you!

Yeah, the one I volunteer at gets rid of the nicest stuff for the silliest reasons! My only other complaint is that they staple the price tags on the clothes. Unfortunately, I'm one of the ones doing it for them! It's nice seeing something in the back that hasn't been stapled yet though! Like this one

ouch staples are bad, especially after a while they rust. They tag here but they are getting better at only putting them through labels and seams.

In the US, uneven sizing indicates "Junior" sizes. They range (now) from 0-1 - 19. Back in the 1940's they started at size 9. (There are some junior sized garments in the Sear's catalogs.) A 1960's size 13 is probably about a size 4 today! American sizing is all over the place right now and there is a great deal of "vanity" sizing!

Here's one Junior Size Chart:

Thank you, Linn! It's so great being a part of this forum, keep learning new things.

This dress is quite tiny! It just fits my dress form mannequin, & even it's a very small mannequin.
