Hey everybody,

somebody brought this dress to my store today and said, that it is Valentino. The tag is unfortunately missing. It was originally longer, but has been shortened. I found a similar dress with the same coloured pleats, but not this exact one. Can anybody help?

All the best

From here, without handling it, it looks like it could Valentino but without the label, I'd be very careful as couture and designer 'boutique' collectors are very particular about these things. And the price between a Valentino couture and/or boutique and an off the rack 80s party dress is very different. I dunno... if it were me, I'd probably pass on it.

That said, VFG cannot authenticate garments.

To be honest, the Made in Germany and all the German-language label make me a little suspicious... even if it's ready to wear/boutique, I would expect Italian designer brand items from the 80s (which I guess it is) to have been made in Italy. Even today or at least in more resent years, you'd usually find them being made by Italian producers.
