Dressing gown or dress?

This feels like a dumb question, but I'm honestly not sure. I have this pretty (I think 80s) piece, which at first I thought was a dressing gown. But the more I look at it the more I wonder if it is supposed to be a wrap dress.

It has ties on both fronts; one front tie ties to an interior side seam tie, then the other front wraps over the top and its tie goes with a tie on the opposite side exterior side seam. It's a lightweight synthetic fabric, maybe nylon. It is home made, with pinked seams.

I thought it was a 40s-style dressing gown, but now I'm not sure what category to put it in.

    Thanks in advance!

Looks like a dressing gown BUT since many wear these more, in my experience, as summer dresses, I put them in a dress category with lots of tags that include dressing gown.

I agree with Cin! It's definitely capable of being used both ways, very pretty!
